I’ve been drawing ever since I was old enough to grip a crayon in my hand. When I was 2 years old my Mom put me down for my afternoon nap as she did each day. Looking back we are still baffled at how I managed to climb out of my crib, open up my closet door, climb up several shelves and grab a box of crayons. I had a beautiful custom made white bench in my bedroom with my name engraved on it which held my toys. I coloured EVERY inch of that bench with my crayons, EVERY inch in a rainbow of colours. When my Mom discovered me some time later I was still happily colouring my bench… It was after this incident that my family and friends determined I was going to be an artist.
My love for photography came a bit later in life. I recieved my first film camera as a birthday gift from my parents for my 13th birthday. I took that thing with me everywhere... A few years later I welcomed my first digital camera, a lovely little Hewlett-Packard. During high school I took a couple of photography courses where I was able to explore and learn so much more about photography. I purchased my first digital SLR, a Canon Rebel XSI in December 2009, which transformed my hobby into a passion. In 2011 I was approached by a co-worker who knew I loved photography and asked if I'd be interested in doing some wedding photography for her. I had no idea what I was getting myself into... but that moment became the start of my photography business. :)
I have lived in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, British Columbia my whole life. I work in a variety of mediums including watercolour, acrylic, pencil, pen & ink, pastel and my current favourite: scratchboard. I’ve always adored animals and from day one they have always been my favourite subject, both pets and wildlife.
